Determine your budget for the charter flight. The price for chartering the plane can vary widely depending on your departure location, the amount of people going on the plane and the size of the plane you chose. Because so many different types of planes are available to charter, it's best to know your budget beforehand, so you can narrow the field of available companies and flights.
Log onto Air Charter Guide at Aircharterguide.com. Air Charter Guide allows you to search thousands of charter operators throughout the United States and the world.
Select whether you want a one-way, round-trip or multi-leg flight in the gray box with the words "Find a Charter Flight" at the top.
Type in your departure location in the "From" field and "Cancun" in the "To" field. Then select a specific departure date and departure time from the menus below the "From" and "To" fields.
Select how many people will fly on the plane with you. If you are the only passenger, select "1" from the drop-down menu.
Select an aircraft from the "Aircraft Category" drop-down menu. The type of aircraft you want to charter is up to you, but this is where your budget is useful. You can select anything from an Airline VIP jet to a single, prop-engine plane. If you're not sure what type of plane you want to charter, select "All" from the drop-down menu so you will be able to see the different prices for the different aircraft.
Click on the orange "Find a Flight" button. You may be directed to a page where you will need to be more specific about your departure destination airport. If you live in Los Angeles, for example, you can chose from about 20 local airfields as a departure location. After specifying the location, click "Continue" to see the available charter flights.
Examine the charter flights, based on your information and location. The page will give you information about the charter company and the estimated price per hour that it will cost to charter the plane.
Click on the name of the company you would like to contact. You will be directed to a page that gives information about the company profile. This includes their address, contact information and qualifications. It also lists the prices for various charter flights in their fleet.
Contact the charter company directly, using the information (email or telephone) on their company profile page. Speak to a customer service agent at the company and book your charter flight. You will need the exact names and addresses for all of the travelers. You will also need to provide your credit card information, and may need to pay a deposit, in order to secure the flight.
