Welcoming both guests and members, Pine Tree describes itself as a "shady getaway just miles from the attractions of the nation's capital," and offers various forms of clothing-free recreation for naturalists. Guests can sunbathe on grassy lawns, take a dip in the pool or play sports like volleyball and tennis. The resort also welcomes RVs and campers with outdoor showers and bathrooms available for use. Indoor-activities take place in Pine Tree's clubhouse, equipped with a terrace, sauna, hot-tub and other facilities.
Though not officially a nudist area, Assateague Beach has long had a crowd of clothing-optional visitors that have made it a point of interest for people "who enjoy being part of nature as we were intended to be," according Capital Sun, a naturalist organizaiton. The beach is located on the northern section of an island, part of which is barred to visitors as it is the habitat of the endangered piping plover bird. Nude visitors to the beach are advised to cover with a towel in the event that families with children or park rangers enter the area.
