Choose a foreign exchange program. The Education First Foundation for Foreign Study and the AYUSA Global Youth Exchange both provide programs that offer guidance and support throughout the process. The cost for hosting a student is generally low. You will need to provide your student with room and board and three meals a day. The student's family will provide money for transportation, health insurance and a monthly spending allowance.
Complete an application with a foreign exchange program. The application process, according to the EF Foundation, includes an interview, background check and personal references. After applying, a representative from the program will visit your home and, based on your family's interests, will help you select a student. According to AYUSA, all foreign exchange students will speak at least some English, while others may be fluent. The student's English will improve dramatically as they enter school and become accustomed to their new environment.
Participate in the orientation provided by the program coordinator for your family. The coordinator will assist with enrolling the student in your local high school and can answer any of your questions.
