Foreign Exchange Programs to Ireland

Traveling overseas to study is a dream of many students. The Emerald Isle is a wonderful choice thanks to its beautiful countryside and largely rural feel. Ireland is rich in culture, tradition and history, and a majority of the population speaks English so it's easy to feel comfortable quickly. Foreign exchange programs exist for both high school and university students.
  1. Two Worlds United Educational Foundation

    • Two Worlds United (twoworldsunited.com) offers a high school exchange program. Students from 15 to 18 can study in Ireland for either a semester or a whole year. There is a $650 application fee that guarantees world-wide emergency assistance, high school enrollment and a responsible host family. They also offer summer programs.

    Nacel Open Door

    • Nacel Open Door (nacelopendoor.org) offers high school foreign exchange programs in Ireland, as well as language school and home school programs. Prices vary depending on the chosen programs. Nacel Open Door has been offering its services for five decades and has host programs all over the world.

    University Student Exchange Programs

    • Most universities have study abroad programs, and many of them go to Ireland. However, at the university level, these host programs are often more specific in nature.

The University of Arizona has a foreign exchange program with the University of Limerick's International Equine Institute. Students will spend a semester or a year studying horses, with a focus on horses as an industry (see Resources).

The University of Maryland-Baltimore County offers a foreign exchange program with the National University of Ireland for one semester. The catch is that it's only offered to students majoring in information systems (see Resources).
