Carnival offers a "Sail and Sign" card that covers all of your onboard purchases; this is like a prepaid credit card that is tied to your account. If you are paying cash, a deposit for the card will be required. As of September 2010, this deposit ranged from $100 to $350. If you are using a credit or debit card, Carnival will place a hold on some of the money in your account to guarantee repayment of any money that you spend on your "Sail and Sign" card.
Carnival offers two ways to protect your vacation investment. It offers a Vacation Guarantee, which gives you a refund if you are not satisfied with your cruise. You must voice your dissatisfaction to ship staff before the first port of call and debark at the first non-U.S. stop in order to receive a refund. It also offers a Vacation Protection Plan, which will give you a refund for trip cancellation and a partial reimbursement for a trip delay when unforeseen circumstances occur. As of September 2010, this partial reimbursement was $500.
If you have a disability, Carnival has made it easy for you to access its ships and all the activities that are offered. It has accessible elevators that accommodate wheelchair-bound guests and guests who are blind. Diagrams are posted on the ship to alert guests of accessible routes and places where they can find accommodating seating and restrooms.
