Alaska Rail Vacations

Awe-inspiring glaciers, flights above Mt. McKinley, starkly beautiful mountaintops, abundant wildlife, fine dining, and excellent hotels are all a part of the amazing wonder that makes up a rail vacation throughout the frontier of Alaska. Rolling through the terrain on a dome-topped rail car provides vacationers with the type of view and experience that will likely linger for a lifetime.
  1. Alaska Railroad Corporation

    • The Alaska Railroad Corporation provides vacation packages that include rail transportation, sightseeing tours, and hotel accommodations at nearly all of the popular tourist destinations across the state. The railroad's famed GoldStar service features double-decked rail cars with domed viewing and open-platform areas. "Choose complete packages that range from five nights to 12 nights and from $1,799 to $5,439 per person," says the corporation. Visitors may pick from a variety of tour options including a journey from the Arctic Circle to Glacier Bay, an 11-day trip available June 5 to August 11 only. Those with a yearning to take in the spectacular scenery of Alaska's national parks may opt for a six-day trek through Kenai Fjords National Park and Denali National Park, which includes boarding a raft for an up-close view of the Spencer Glacier. Or choose a five-day adventure on the Denali and Spencer Glacier Trip, a breathtaking jaunt that includes jet boat rides, floating amidst the glaciers, and taking to the air for a "flight seeing" tour around Mount McKinley.
