Tourists interested in a short ATV adventure could consider the Fairbanks Princess Riverside Lodge's day trip to the Chatanika River. Fairbanks is in central Alaska, with vast amounts of undeveloped land available for exploration. The lodge's day trip involves a 2.5-hour ride along a series of trails used by miners during the gold rush at the start of the 20th century.

Arrange your own ATV tour. Some tourists do their own ATV vacationing in Chugach State Park, near Anchorage. The Eklutna Lakeside Trail system is 45 minutes north of Anchorage. The park has a $5 entrance fee per vehicle, and allows ATVs from Sunday to Wednesday only. The trip takes about three hours.
