Print up a list of the 50 states for each player in the car. Cross off each state as you find the plate for that state. Play the game individually and try to win or work together as a team.
Purchase Roadside Bingo cards at Cracker Barrel, make your own Roadside Bingo cards or print the cards online. Each card has pictures of things you would see on the road in rows and columns. Instruct each player to mark off each item they see and try to get 4 in a row to win.
Play the lines and dots game by making dots on a page in lines and columns or printing the template online. Take turns drawing 1 horizontal or 1 vertical line between 2 dots. When you complete a box, write your initial in the box. The person with the most boxes with their initial in it at the game's end is the winner.
Play the Alphabet game by looking for the letters of the alphabet in order. Look for the letters in signs along the road, in license plates or on logos on trucks.
Play the Trip Game by having the first person start off with "I'm going on a trip. I'm taking a ...," then come up with a word, such as toothbrush. The second player repeats what the first player said and adds on something else they are bringing. Keep going in this manner, adding on new items and challenging each other's memories.
Engage in a scavenger hunt by making a list of things to find before the trip and giving each player a copy of the sheet. Check things off the list as you see them. The one to find all the items first wins the game.
Make words from phrases with the letters in the license plates. For example, if the license plate reads ESB 423, you could come up with Eat Some Bacon or Evenly Sliced Bread and so forth. See how many phrases you can come up with.
