Red tree sponges are vibrant marine organisms typically found in tropical and subtropical waters. Antarctica, located in the Southern Hemisphere, is surrounded by frigid waters that are far too cold for these sponges to survive. The extreme temperatures and unique environmental conditions of the Antarctic marine ecosystem simply do not support the growth of red tree sponges, which thrive in warmer, shallower seas.
