Fall Festivals in Hanahan, South Carolina

Set along the banks of Goose Creek Reservoir and the Cooper River, the city of Hanahan is home to several parks that provide recreational amenities and showcase the natural scenery of South Carolina's lowcountry. The city's outdoor amphitheater is the site of the patriotic-themed Red, White and Blue Fall Festival each November. Although that is Hanahan's lone fall festival, several other autumn events are held in the nearby communities of Charleston, Goose Creek and Mount Pleasant.

  1. Red, White and Blue Fall Festival

    • A major event at Hanahan's Red, White and Blue Fall Festival is a ceremony that pays tribute to the many retired veterans and current military members in Berkeley County and the greater Charleston area. The free, one-day festival is held on a Saturday within a few days of Veteran's Day at Hanahan's waterfront amphitheater, with the Goose Creek Reservoir providing a scenic backdrop. At the inaugural 2013 event, a highlight was the Charleston Community Band's concert of patriotic songs. Other local and regional bands provide additional entertainment, and the event also includes arts and craft booths, food vendors and a children's play area with activities such as a jump castle, rock-climbing wall and face painting.

    Goose Creek Fall Festival

    • The Goose Creek Fall Festival is typically held on a Saturday in mid-October, behind the city's Marguerite H. Brown Municipal Center, about 6 miles north of Hananan. The festival has attractions such as live entertainment, food vendors, arts and craft booths, pony rides and a children's area with inflatable slides and bounce houses. Other activities include a charity raffle and a canned-food drive that benefits a local non-profit organization.

    Children's Day Festival

    • The Children's Day Festival is a free Mount Pleasant event that has been held annually for more than 25 years. The festival usually takes place on a Sunday in mid-October at Park West Recreation Complex, less than 20 miles southeast of Hanahan. The event includes family-friendly attractions such as face painting, balloon art, inflatable slides, bounce houses, climbing walls, pony rides and a petting zoo. A variety of concession booths benefit local schools.

    Charleston's Fall Tours

    • Get an up-close look at some of the Charleston area's most elegant and historic private homes and gardens during the Preservation Society of Charleston's Fall Tours, held throughout the month of October. Most homes and gardens are in downtown Charleston, which is less than 15 miles south of Hanahan, but the event also includes longer bus tours of churches and plantations on nearby Edisto Island and along the Cooper River. A fee is charged for each tour.
