Orangeburg, South Carolina hosts the Festival of Roses every spring. Edisto Memorial Gardens is the site of this four-day festival. The gardens contain 75 types of roses and 4,000 plants. Activities include a golf tournament, beauty pageant and arts and crafts vendors. The Black River is the site of a bass catching tournament and a kayak and canoe race. The festival also includes a road race, divided into 12 k, 5 k and 1 mile runs.

Branchville, South Carolina contains the world's oldest railroad junction. Each fall, the town holds the Raylrode Daze Festivul. Events include a beauty pageant, a pet show and a carnival.
