Bloomingdale, Indiana is located in the historic county of Parke. Parke county is home to civil war reenactments, covered bridges and historic landmark buildings.   1. Miami Indians All Nations Gathering/Powwow

    • This non-profit event will celebrate its fifth year in early June, 2011. The purpose of the event is to educate the public about Native American Heritage and to keep that heritage going strong. The festival features drum circles, dancers and hoop dancers as well as storytelling and games. Over 20 vendors throughout the festival sell arts, crafts and food. Discounts are available for large groups and there is no admission for children under 6. Enjoy the day taking in the sights and sounds of American history before the arrival of the settlers.

    Parke County Maple Syrup Fair

    • Nearly 50 years running, this fair starts at the end of winter and takes place throughout the entire county of Parke. Tour the maple syrup camps and travel the country roads and famous covered bridges. See how maple syrup is made, and sample the delicious flavor. Pancakes and sausage are served all day. Pick up some maple syrup, candy or cookies to take home. Enjoy the local artistry and shop their wares. The festival headquarter is at the 4-H Fairgrounds and admission is free.

    Mansfield Village Mushroom Festival

    • This free festival celebrates the famous fungus April 30 to May 1, 2011. Enjoy a couple days taking in the sights and sampling mushrooms or join the mushroom hunts. There is a fee to join the hunts. You can buy or sell mushrooms at the market and a cash prize is awarded daily for the largest mushroom. The festival also celebrates the local arts, crafts and antique dealers and hosts an antique car show. Take a free tour of the Mansfield Roller Mill to round out your day.

    Billie Creek Village Harvest Days

    • For over 40 years, the village of Billie Creek has hosted a harvest days festival. Take in the vintage machinery and celebrate the healthy harvest. Held annually in September, the festival has demonstrations, a tractor pull and a parade. Wander the festival, sample the food from a variety of booths, and support the local crafters and artists. Visit the historic General Store or the Ritz Theatre. Upwards of 2,500 people visit the festival every year. There is an admission fee, but parking is free.
