Fairs and Festivals in Indiana

Indiana's rich cultural history of fairs and festivals is so essential to its identity that the residents of the state formed the professional organization, The Indiana Association of Fairs, Festivals and Events. The purpose of the association is to "promote the growth and well-being of all Indiana fairs and festivals in a friendly, fair and equal manner."

  1. Daviess County Fair

    • The Daviess County Fair was first held in 1928, beginning as an agricultural street fair. The fair progressed through the years to include carnival rides, a contest to crown the queen of Daviess County and a demolition derby. The local 4H club holds animal shows and educational exhibits. Contests are held to judge produce for categories, such as largest zucchini and best vegetable display. Artists, crafters, bakers and chefs all come out to share, sell and present their goods. The fair is typically held in the summer, located in the small southern Indiana town of Elnora.
