However, there are some exceptions to this rule. Children under the age of 18 may work with the permission of their parents or guardians, and children between the ages of 13 and 15 may work in light work that does not interfere with their education.
The government of Ghana has established the National Child Labor Policy to protect children from exploitative labor practices. This policy sets out the minimum age for work, as well as the types of work that children are permitted to do.
Ghana has also ratified the International Labour Organization's (ILO) Convention 138 on Minimum Age for Employment, which sets the minimum age for work at 15 years.
