Information on Bali

The small Indonesian island of Bali is one of the world's most popular tourist destinations. A rich local culture and palm-fringed beaches make Bali an intriguing prospect for many travellers.
  1. Location and Climate

    • Bali is an Indonesian island located between the islands of Java and Lombok. As a sub-tropical island, Bali has a warm climate with little variation in daily temperatures. With average temperatures around 83 F, the coolest months are July and August. The hottest months are March and April, with temperatures averaging 87 F. The wettest months are December and January.

    Attractions

    • Kuta is Bali's principal centre for tourism. The clean sand beach is a draw for tourists while surfers enjoy Kuta's consistent waves. The town of Ubud, located in the island's mountainous interior, is a popular centre for exploring Bali's countryside and rich culture.

    Travel tips

    • Most of Bali's economy is centered on tourism and as a traveller you are a potential customer for the many street hawkers and touts. As hard as it may be, ignore them and don't make eye contact no matter how pleasant they may seem. Don't feign interest in their goods just to be polite. They are trying to make a living and this is wasting their time.
