How Kitty Murray Lane in Ancaster Ontario got its name?
Kitty Murray Lane is named in honour of Kitty Murray, a prominent member of the Ancaster community. Kitty came to Canada from Ireland in 1957, and quickly became involved in the community, starting various initiatives such as the Ancaster Food Bank and the Ancaster Community Festival. She also served as a city councillor for many years. In 1995, Kitty was awarded the Queen's Medal for her contributions to the community. She passed away in 2013. Kitty Murray Lane is a fitting tribute to a woman who made such a significant impact on the community of Ancaster.
