How many indigenous are there?

According to the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues, there are an estimated 370-500 million indigenous peoples worldwide, representing about 5% of the global population. However, it's important to note that these estimates vary widely due to different definitions and criteria for identifying indigenous peoples, as well as challenges in obtaining accurate data.

Indigenous peoples are found in all regions of the world, with a significant proportion of them living in Asia-Pacific, Latin America, and Africa. They represent a diverse array of cultures, languages, and traditions, each with its own unique identity and history.
