What were the middle colonies houses made of?

Middle colonies houses were typically made of wood. Log cabins were common in the more rural areas, especially in the early days of settlement, while settlers near Philadelphia tended towards brick construction. Some stone houses can be found in the region as well, primarily those built by the wealthier inhabitants. For example, German settlers often used stone for all or part of their house construction, while the Swedes and Dutch built log houses.
