Travel & Tourism in Paris

Paris, considered one of the finest cities in the world, is a major tourist destination for people from all over the world. With artistic masterpieces and iconic buildings, fewer cities are as romanticized and talked about as Paris.
  1. Getting There

    • Few buildings in the world are as iconic as the Eiffel Tower.

Paris is serviced by two major international airports: Charles De Gaulle and Orly. The city is serviced by many international flights from North America, including most major cities in the United States.

    Budget Accommodations

    • Budget options exist for many travelers on a shoestring. Lonely Planet suggests €60 a night for a midrange double and €140 for a more expensive hotel.

    Eiffel Tower

    • One of the most iconic sites in Paris, of course, is the Eiffel Tower. Completed in 1889 by designer Gustave Eiffel, it was the tallest building in the world until the Chrysler Building was completed in New York in 1930. It is open from 9:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day during the summer.

    Arc de Triomphe

    • Another major landmark in Paris is the Arc de Triomphe. It was designed by Jean François Thérèse and completed in 1833 from an idea originally conceived by Napoleon I. In the 20th century, France's Tomb of the Unknown was constructed underneath the arch. It is open every day from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.

    The Louvre

    • With all the fine architecture and sights to be seen around Paris, the Louvre is houses many European masterpieces from the ages. In these halls you'll find Leonardo da Vinci's greatest works, including the "Mona Lisa" and "The Last Supper." The museum is open every day except for Tuesdays.
