Christmas Lights Around the City of Light

    • Paris is illuminated with Christmas lights during the holiday.

Some of the best Christmas lights and displays can be seen throughout Paris. The grand magasins, or department stores, around Opera create elaborate Christmas- and holiday-themed displays in their large windows. All down the Champs-Elysees are sparkling lights for the holidays too.

    Ice Skating

    • Ice skating rinks are available throughout Paris around Christmas.

Skate beneath Montparnasse, Paris' tallest building, or town hall (Hôtel de Ville) throughout the winter and then warm up in any of the many nearby cafes. Rinks are generally free, and skates are available for rental for 5 euros. Check on the rink's specifications, as some require children to wear gloves. Skating is available starting in December and continues as long as weather permits.
