Cool Things to Do in Paris

Affectionately known as the City of Love, Paris, France is rich in historic and cultural attractions and breathtaking sights. Whether you're visiting the Eiffel Tower, spending the day at the Louvre, or grabbing a bite to eat in an intimate French bistro, there are a variety of entertaining attractions within the city that suit all tastes.
  1. Go Sightseeing

    • Since Paris is packed with attractions, going sightseeing can be one of the coolest things to do within the city.

Make it a point to spend some extra time at the Eiffel Tower, rather than just glancing at it quickly as you're walking by. Taking a tour of the tower and checking out the operations of the elevator and its bunker can give more insight into the tower's history. It can also be entertaining to take an elevator to the top of the tower to see panoramic views of the city, or dine at one of the tower's two restaurants for a well-rounded experience.

The Louvre is comprised of the Louvre Museum and Louvre Palace. It is well worth taking the time to stop by both places. The Louvre Museum has about 35,000 works of art on display. The museum first opened in August 1793, and has grown to become one of the most visited art museums in the world. Meanwhile the Louvre Palace is one of the largest in the world. It formerly served as the residence of the kings of France.

    Experience a Parisian Flea Market

    • In addition to its cultural attractions, Paris is also known for its distinctive style. Champs Elysees is a famous avenue that exudes just that. Bordered by gardens (Jardis des Champs-Elysees), Champs Elysees contains hundreds of boutiques, restaurants and movie theaters.

To engage in another popular shopping experience in Paris, head to the Marche aux Puces de Clignancourt. This massive flea market of sorts, considered to be one of the largest in the world, houses a variety of shops with boutiques selling everything from antiques to toys to ceramics.

    Watch a Moulin Rouge Show

    • According to Time Out Paris magazine, taking in a Moulin Rouge show is one of the greatest things to do in Paris.

Sixty dancers, dubbed as the Doriss Girls, dance on stage to recorded music in eye-catching, feathery costumes putting on a show against glittery backdrops. While their flamboyant costumes are one of the things that has made Moulin Rouge famous, it is also the nostalgic scene that the venue, which has been around for over 120 years, imbues.
