What is the human development index of Ireland?

As of 2021 data, Ireland has a Human Development Index (HDI) of 0.961, placing it in the very high human development category. Ireland ranks 2nd out of 191 countries in the 2021 Human Development Report.

The HDI measures a country's overall achievements in three basic dimensions of human development:

1. A long and healthy life: measured by life expectancy at birth.

2. Access to knowledge: measured by mean years of schooling for adults aged 25 years and more and expected years of schooling for children of school-entering age.

3. A decent standard of living: measured by Gross National Income (GNI) per capita.
