Are tortilla chips made in Mexico?

The tortilla chip is believed to have been created in Los Angeles, California in the 1940s by Rebecca Webb Carranza. She was the founder of the El Zarape Tortilla Factory. The taco chip or Dorito was created in 1966 by Arch West and the late Frito-Lay executive Elmer Doolin.
