Do Salvadorans Hate Mexicans? No Evidence of General Animosity

There is no evidence that Salvadorans hate Mexicans as a group.

Both are Latin American nations with:

• Shared language (Spanish)
• Similar cultural roots (Indigenous + Spanish colonial)
• Common religion (predominantly Catholic)
• Historical solidarity (both former Spanish colonies, Central American federation attempts)

Like any neighbors, there are stereotypes, sports rivalries (football/soccer), and occasional diplomatic friction, but relations are generally positive at people-to-people and government levels. Large Salvadoran communities live in Mexico and vice versa.
