Location of the Mexican Plateau

The Mexican Plateau (Altiplanicie Mexicana) occupies most of central Mexico in the southern part of North America. It averages 2,000 meters (6,560 ft) above sea level, bounded by the Sierra Madre Oriental and Sierra Madre Occidental. The plateau spans ~750,000 km² (290,000 sq mi) and includes the Valley of Mexico, where Mexico City sits.
