Where is the plateau of Mexico located?

The Plateau of Mexico is located in the southern part of North America, covering most of central Mexico. It is a large elevated region that averages about 2,000 meters (6,560 feet) above sea level and is surrounded by the Sierra Madre Oriental and Sierra Madre Occidental mountain ranges. The plateau covers an area of about 750,000 square kilometers (290,000 square miles) and includes the Valley of Mexico, where the capital city of Mexico City is located.
