  1. White Island Tours

    • This tour begins by departing from the Whakatane Wharf on the launch PeeJay. The tour starts with an 80 minute ride to reach White Island, giving you time to see the marine life along the way. Once you reach the island you will be taken right to the jetty by an inflatable boat. You will then need to climb a ladder and go across some planks and boulders to step onto the island. Once there the tour guides will show you around the old sulphur mine and you will get up close to the yellow sulphur crystals. You can go right to the edge of the main crater. You will hear the hiss and the roar of the steam that rises from the Crater Lake. Once you have finished exploring, you can go back aboard PeeJay and enjoy a lunch before being taken back to the Whakatane Wharf.
