Hawkes Bay is on the eastern coast of the North Island, and the Hawkes Bay weather station is located in the town of Puketapu. The weather station consists of an Oregon Scientific WM-918, collating information from an anemometer placed on a 50-foot mast and temperature and humidity sensors placed in a screened location at ground level. Current rainfall is measured using a tilting-bucket device, linked to the weather station. Data is uploaded to the "Weather Underground" network and can be accessed via a dedicated Weather Underground web page.
