The Two Oceans Bordering North America

North America is flanked by two major oceans:

• Atlantic Ocean to the east
• Pacific Ocean to the west

The Arctic Ocean borders the continent's northern edge (Alaska, northern Canada, Greenland), but the Atlantic and Pacific are the primary oceanic boundaries defining the continent's east-west extent.
