The Homestead Creamery runs tours for the public on Monday through Thursday at 10 a.m. Tours can either be booked to see the creamery or the farm. Tours of the creamery will show visitors how to churn milk and butter and how to bottle milk and make ice cream. To book a tour, call the creamery at least a week in advance with a tour group consisting of no less than five people. The cost of a tour will depend on the size of the group.
As with tours of the creamery, tours of the farm run from Monday through Thursday at 10 a.m. Guides will explain the milking process, showing visitors where the farm's employees milk cows and where they raise cows from infancy. Like with the creamery tours, tours of the farm must consist of at least five people and must be scheduled a week ahead of time. The cost of the tour depends on the number of people visiting.
The creamery sells a variety of products in a variety of locations. In the case of products such as milk and butter, the products are made, packaged and sent to be sold the very next day. The butter is handmade; the molding, shaping and packaging are all done on site by the creamery's employees. Milk is also produced from the farm's cows, and ice cream is made on site. Kroger is the largest buyer of Homestead Creamery products. Since all of the creamery's products are produced locally, all of its products arrive fresh to stores.
Homestead Creamery's Farm Day takes place in October of every year. On Farm Day, visitors have the opportunity to observe the milking of cows, as well as a honeybee demonstration. Hay rides are available on Farm Day, as is freshly pressed apple cider. Children will enjoy the opportunity to pet the farm's calves.
