Relive Juneau's history and pan for gold in the authentic setting of the Last Chance Basin on Gold Creek, offered through Alaska Travel Adventures. A costumed prospector guides guests through a historic residential area and the remnants of the Alaska-Juneau Mining Co. Guests then head to Gold Creek, where they learn how to work the pan. Guests can pan in the creek or at the waist-high demonstration trough and take home any gold they pan and receive a gold claim certificate as a souvenir.

Ride the Tanana Valley Railroad into the gold fields of interior Alaska for an adventure. A two-hour tour conducted by the Binkley family takes guests through a permafrost tunnel and to a working mining camp, where Alaska miners can describe present-day methods for placer mining, which involves guiding river water through a sluice box. The tour offers a short course in gold mining followed by hands-on panning. "Everyone finds gold---we guarantee it!" states El Dorado's website.
