Take a walk on the Detroit Riverfront. Start at Hart Plaza at Jefferson and Woodward Avenue and walk up the river front and back. You can see Windsor, Ontario across the Detroit River and on a sunny day, the river just sparkles and gleams, it's a beautiful riverfront.
Take a drive on the MacArthur Bridge to Belle Isle. Belle Isle is a little gem in Detroit. It is an island park on the Detroit River. There are many free things to do at Belle Isle. There is a beach, The Dossin Great Lakes Museum and many things to see, such as the beautiful Scott Fountain, the Livingstone Memorial Lighthouse and the deer who roam freely on the island. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy it on the banks of the Detroit River.
Stroll through Eastern Market on a Saturday morning. Take in all of the sights and smells of a bustling open air market. Of course, the fruits, vegetables, fresh meats and flowers are not free, but they are very affordable.

You can also take a free shuttle bus from the IKEA store in Canton, MI to Campus Martius on select dates.
