      Plan for your overnight lodging. Consider staying in one of the four lodges along the way: You may reach The Peaks of Otter Lodge at (800) 542-5927, the Rocky Knob Cabins at (540) 593-3503, the Bluffs Lodge at (336) 372-4499 and the Pisgah Inn at (828) 235-8228.

      Spend an evening or two under the stars. There are many campgrounds along the way, including Otter Creek, Peaks of Otter, Roanoke Mountain, Rocky Knob, Doughton Park, Julian Price Park, Linville Falls, Crabtree Meadows and Mt. Pisgah.

      Drive slowly and keep an eye out for wildlife. Some of the animals you may see along the way are: white-tailed-deer, black bears, salamanders, foxes, groundhogs, opossums and raccoons.
