Otter Creek Campground is close to Virginia's James River with the lowest elevation. Roanoke, Virginia is easily reached from Roanoke Mountain Campground for campers who like to be near a big city. Julian Price Park is near Blowing Rock and Boone, North Carolina. It's the biggest campground. Linville Falls is located on the Linville River. Mount Pisgah is at about 5,000 feet elevation, making it the uppermost campground. In western North Carolina, it is 20 miles from Asheville and 26 miles from Waynesville.
Camping fees are $16 a site. Senior citizens with the Interagency Senior or Access Pass pay a smaller fee. Julian Price Park and Linville Falls accept online reservations.
Julian Price Park is open year-round, depending on the weather. Linville Falls and Otter Creek Campgrounds are open from April 2 to Nov. 1. Roanoke Mountain Campground and Mount Pisgah Campground are open May 14 to Nov. 1.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture prohibits bringing firewood from Illinois, Michigan, Maryland, Missouri, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Quebec, Virginia, West Virginia, Ontario and Wisconsin. Insects found in the wood are very destructive to the Parkway forests.
