Camping Along I-5 in California

No more than 30 minutes from Interstate 5 in California are places where you can enjoy your next camping trip. Whether you're a tent or RV camper, you can stay in one of these campgrounds and experience attractions along the 404-mile highway.
  1. Accommodations

    • San Luis RV Resort has 107 RV and tent sites and Santa Nella RV Park has 89 all-pull-through sites. The San Luis Reservoir State Recreation Area has Basalt Campground, with 79 developed family campsites; San Luis Creek Campground, with 53 RV and tent sites; Medeiros Campground, with primitive campsites and Los Banos Creek Campground, with 20 primitive camping/day-use sites.

    Utility Hookups

    • San Luis RV Resort and Santa Nella RV Park have full hookup sites, wireless Internet access and cable television. San Luis Creek Campground offers water and electric hookups.

    Campground Activities

    • In San Luis RV Resort you can swim in the pool or prepare a meal in the barbecue grill area. You can walk your dog in the wide open area in Santa Nella RV Park and go hiking, fishing, horseback riding, swimming, wind surfing, boating and picnicking in the San Luis Reservoir State Recreation Area.

    Facilities and Amenities

    • San Luis has a store, gift shop, coffee/TV lounge, meeting and laundry rooms, propane sales and an RV/auto washing area. Santa Nella has a laundry room, restrooms and propane and RV supplies for sale. In Basalt you'll find water faucets nearby, restrooms and showers and a dump station. San Luis Creek has a walking trail and a dump station. Medeiros has a limited number of fire rings, shade ramadas and tables. A fire ring and a table are found at each site in Basalt Campground, San Luis Creek Campground and Los Banos Creek Campground, which also has a shade ramada at each site. Additionally, Medeiros and Los Banos Creek have drinking water and chemical toilets.

    Area Attractions

    • Not more than 30 minutes off I-5 in California are the Forebay Golf Course, the historic Milliken Museum of Los Banos and boating, swimming, picnicking, wind surfing and water skiing in the San Luis Reservoir.
