Blue Ridge, Va., is situated in the heart of the George Washington National Forest near the Blue Ridge Parkway. Blue Ridge, which is about six miles from Roanoke, offers RV campers quick access to the Blue Ridge Parkway and its outdoor activities like hiking, fishing, mountain biking and camping. The city is located about a mile from the start of the Blue Ridge Parkway off Highway 460.

    • Middle Creek Campground is located about five miles from Blue Ridge in Buchanan. The campground offers 103 campsites, all but four with connections for RVs. The campground is located near the Jefferson National Forest and offers campers access to fishing ponds, Jennings Creek and the Jennings River. Middle Creek Campground features bath, shower and laundry facilities, an outdoor swimming pool, recreation facility and grocery store.

    Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Natural Bridge

    • Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Natural Bridge is located about 20 miles from Blue Ridge in Natural Bridge Station. In addition to RV sites along the James River that feature full electric, water and sewer connections, the park features a water slide, miniature golf course, swimming pool, playground and bath, shower and laundry facilities. The park also features a restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.

    • Located in Natural Bridge about 20 miles from Blue Ridge, the Natural Bridge KOA campground offers RV sites with full electric, water and sewer connections. The campground features bath, shower and laundry facilities, an outdoor swimming pool, recreation facility, playground and wireless Internet access. The Natural Bridge rock formation and the Natural Bridge Wax Museum are less than 10 miles from the campground.

    • Summer camping in the Blue Ridge area brings average high temperatures in the mid-80s, so RVs with functioning air conditioning are a necessity. Winter camping in Blue Ridge during the months of December through March bring average high temperatures in the high 40s, so heaters in RVs need to be operational. Average low temperatures during the winter in Blue Ridge reach the mid-20s. Blue Ridge is not a particularly wet area, as there are only two months where the area averages at least four inches of rain (May and July).
