No Midwest State Touches an Ocean

The U.S. Midwest (North Central region) is entirely landlocked. Its 12 states—Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin—border the Great Lakes or inland rivers, but none have coastline on the Atlantic, Pacific, or Gulf of Mexico.

Michigan has the most Great Lakes shoreline, but the Great Lakes are freshwater inland seas, not oceans.
