Group Tours of the Nashville Super Speedway

Since 2001, fans of fast cars have flocked to the Nashville Superspeedway in Lebanon, Tennessee, where the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR), the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) and other racing organizations stage competitions each year. During the track's off-hours, racing enthusiasts can get an exclusive peak of the track with a guided tour. A simple telephone call can arrange the visit.
  1. Making Arrangements

    • Nashville Superspeedway staff members greet visitors from all over the United States each year. You can arrange a tour of the speedway by calling its main phone number, 615-547-7500, and speaking to the Operations Department or the Marketing Department. Tours are scheduled only on days when no event occurs at the speedway. An option is to visit the speedway's front office on a non-event day and ask whether or not a staff member is available to lead a tour; however, tours are not guaranteed for such drop-ins.

    Arranging Group Size

    • Tour groups can be as big as a busload of travelers or as small as a couple of family members, and an individual can arrange a speedway tour, too. Small groups of roughly four to five people need not make prior arrangements, but the speedway staff prefers you to call at least one week in advance to ensure a tour guide is available. Large groups, such as roughly 50 people, must arrange a tour at least two weeks in advance. Inclement weather will not cancel an entire tour, but it may cancel the tour's drive around the racetrack.

    Going on the Tour

    • The speedway is a 40-minute drive from Nashville. Your first stop at the speedway is the front office on Victory Lane, where you can meet your tour guide. All tours are guided and last about 20 minutes. They include a walk through the speedway's facilities, including the tower, private suites and press/media room, where, for example, NASCAR members work during an event and where the Speed Channel broadcasts. Tour members visit the grandstands, infield, road course and driver's meeting area. If requested, tour guides can give a brief history of the speedway. The tour also includes a ride around the racetrack in a company vehicle, which is a typical car, not a race car. Four or five people can fit into the car at one time; members of larger groups take turns riding on the track.

    Taking a Self-Guided Tour

    • To tour the speedway during an event, purchase the all-access pass with your ticket. The pass allows you to take a self-guided tour before the event to see the driver's meeting, infield, Fan Walk and Victory Lane.
