Casinos and Equine Events in Tunica, Mississippi

The town of Tunica, in the state of Mississippi, grew up in the late 20th century around its flourishing gambling industry, and plenty of casinos can be found here, each offering a dazzling array of game types and machines. Many casinos are incorporated into resorts, so gamblers can stay in nearby hotel facilities. Another thing Tunica is noted for are its horse shows, typically held in the Tunica Arena and Exposition Center.
  1. Gold Strike Casino

    • The Gold Strike Resort incorporates a casino as well as accommodation, with the gaming facilities spanning some 50,000 square feet. Gold Strike Tunica has won a slew of accolades for excellence within the sector, including "Best Live Poker". The casino hosts regular poker tournaments in addition to holding lessons in the card game in its large poker room, while other games played here include blackjack and roulette.

    Tunica Roadhouse Casino

    • This large-scale casino features more than 1,000 gambling machines, including video and slot options, as well as traditional table games such as roulette and craps. The casino attracts customers for its entertainment scene as much as for its gambling, with live music being played regularly from the Riverstage Showbar. Other on-site attractions include riotous bar games and even a mechanical bull.

    Horseshoe Casino

    • Horseshoe features many of the typical casino attractions, including table games such as craps and 1,700-plus slot machines across its 65,000 square feet of gambling expanse. However, it was Horseshoe's Tunica poker room that helped established the region as a prime spot for gambling action, and the casino still holds regular poker meetings there. Elsewhere, the Horseshoe complex contains Bluesville, an entertainment venue which hosts rock and blues performers, and a nightclub, PUSH, which offers V.I.P. treatment and well-recognized DJs.

    Cotton Bowl Show

    • Held at the Tunica Arena and Exposition Center, the Cotton Bowl Show brings together hundreds of horses and equine enthusiasts each September for a three-day exhibition of horsemanship. The Cotton Bowl Show features a schedule packed with performances and parades in a range of categories, including trail horses, geldings and mares, with entrants being analyzed by a panel of four judges. Other attractions on-site include a party night on the Friday, which has in the past featured a barbecue.

    Mid-South Quarter Horse Show

    • An annual summer event, also held at the Tunica Arena and Exposition Center, the Mid-South Quarter Horse Show attracts equine fans from all over the United States. The show features American Quarter Horses on display, and visitors have a chance to catch demonstrations of horsemanship as owners take their horses through the Center's large roping arena.
