Eastern Lake Erie Charters

Boats can be chartered at one of the marinas of Eastern Lake Erie for fishing trips. People who wish to charter a boat will first need to obtain a fishing license, but a one-day license can be bought at the marina. As of early 2011, a typical day's charter costs between $280 and $620 depending on the size of the boat and the size of the charter party.
  1. Braun's Outdoors Bass Charters

    • Sailing from Buffalo City on the easternmost point of Lake Erie, Braun's Outdoors Bass Charters specialize in small-mouth bass fishing. As of January 2011, Braun's offers full day (seven hour) and half day (three and a half hour) charters for one or two people. A full day's fishing will cost $280 for one person and $325 for two people. The captain also teaches fish location techniques, the correct way to use bait, and other fishing techniques if desired by the client. The two Buffalo docks that Braun's charters run from are Erie Basin Marina and Small Boat Harbor.

    Eerie Eyes

    • Eerie Eyes fishing charters is a company which operates from Dunkirk harbor on the southern side of eastern Lake Erie. The charter targets fish such as walleye, lake trout, steel-head and small-mouth bass. For a party of four, a full day (eight-hour) charter costs $425 and a half day (four-hour) charter costs $275. For large parties, the company can organize a multi-boat trip. Eerie Eyes also operates from Barcelona harbor.

    Hotline Fishing

    • Hotline Fishing operates out of Port Colborne, on the northern edge of eastern Lake Erie, during the summer months. From June 1 and September 15, the company offers charter fishing for walleye salmon and rainbow trout in the lake. Clients can opt for a morning charter lasting six hours and sailing at 6 a.m., or a six-hour evening charter beginning at 3 p.m. As of January 2011, for a group of one to four anglers, this costs $600. A $400 four-hour weekday evening charter is also available.

    Jimmy Riggin' Fishing Charters

    • Sailing from Long Point on the Canadian edge of eastern Lake Erie, Jimmy Riggin' Fishing Charters offers winter fishing in Lake Erie from September to November and during the spring months. The fish targeted are perch, steel-head, bass, lake trout, pike and pickerel. As of January 2011, for a six-hour morning or evening charter for up to five anglers, a charter costs $620 excluding tax. Jimmy Riggin' also offers to give you a free charter if you don't catch any fish on the first charter.
