Gooseberry, Utah, ATV Trails

In the northern part of Sevier County, Utah, lies the Wasatch Plateau, which is home to the Gooseberry ATV Trail system. The plateau is just to the north of the better known Paiute Trail System and to the east of the town of Salina. Here you'll find a little over 200 miles of ATV trails, many of which are double track. The trails pass through some of Utah's most spectacular scenery, which is dotted with small trout lakes. Don't be surprised to spot one of the area's elk herds, for which it is well known. A good starting point for these trails is Salina, about 19 miles to the north of the city of Richfield.
  1. Gooseberry ATV Trail

    • Just to the south of Salina you'll find a dirt road alongside and to the north of Interstate 70. Just over 2 miles along this dirt road you'll find the head of the Gooseberry ATV Trail going off to the north. Much of this trail is two tracks, but there are some sections that are not suitable if you have a side by side ATV. You'll find signs along the trail that indicate the degree of difficulty of the coming section. Be careful to heed any warnings --- they are there for your benefit.

    Salina Creek ATV Trail

    • To get to the head of the Salina Creek ATV Trail, take Interstate 70 east out of Salina for almost 17 miles. Take Exit 71 to the north into Convulsion Road and just over half a mile along this road you'll find a trail head on your left hand side. This is the Salina Creek Road. You'll find some good straight stretches in the first few miles, but keep a lookout for side trails along Willow Creek Road and Skyline Drive. Take a camera on this trail to photograph some of the deer that you're sure to see.

    Willow Creek ATV TRail

    • Drive north out of Salina on US-89 for just 3.5 miles, and you'll find a dirt road heading off to the east. This is 3500 Redmond Switch Road. After a little under 2.5 miles along this road you can park your vehicle at the junction with Willow Creek Road and mount your ATV. Twelve miles along Willow Creek Road to the east will see you joining up with the Gooseberry and Salina Creek trails from the south.
