ATV Trails Near Kremmling Colorado

The town of Kremmling, Colorado, is located in Grand County in the north-central region of the Centennial State. Located in a rugged, remote area of the state, the statuary town is surrounded by several wilderness areas, including Arapaho National Forest, Rocky Mountain National Park and the Steamboat Springs area, home to the Steamboat Mountain Resort. With such a vast expanse of rugged terrain, there is a wealth of off-road trails, particularly geared towards ATVs, in the Kremmling area.

  1. Dillon Ranger District

    • Located south of Kremmling is the Dillon Ranger District of White Ri‎ver National Forest, which offers both summer and winter outdoor opportunities for off-roading enthusiasts. The district provides approximately 100 miles of off-road routes and trails, as well as 150 miles of trails for mountain bikers. The area also includes about 400 campsites. During the winter, eight snowmobile trails are open to the public. Off-roading trails range in experience level from beginner to more difficult, and a sampling of off-road trail highlights includes stunning views of several mountain reservoirs and the ruins of an old mining camp.

    • The local U.S. Land Management Bureau‎ offers a wealth of information regarding off-road vehicle recreation in Kremmling, Colorado. They provide information on numerous trails in Grand County, ranging from single-track routes, ATV trails, to 4WD (four wheel drive) roads. All trail routes are marked as either open, limited, or closed, with limited roads sometimes closed during wildlife seasons, such as elk season. Trails include the Wolford Mountain Trail, open to dirt bikes only; 2.1-mile Old Highway Trail, a one-way, relatively flat trail for off-road use; and the Mulberry Trail, which starts as an ATV trail, and ends as a single track route.

    Nova Guides‎

    • Nova Guides, an outdoors activity company located just west of Kremmling, offers ATV tours and guides as part of its extensive activities package in the summer months. The company, which rents ATVs, operates trails that escalate as high as 12,500 feet, and which cut through a variety of landscapes, from serene meadows to brooks and mountain stream settings. Several tours can be taken, including morning or afternoon tours, or riders can simply rent ATVs from 1 to 4 hours at a time. Helmets are provided with all rentals and tours.
