Tours of Azekah are available from Your Israel Tours as part of its Tanach Tour package. You can also visit the site on a private tour with Alex of Tanach Tours. According to legend, Azekah or Tel Azeka -- depending on the translation -- overlooked the battle site of David and Goliath. According to the Tanach, David battled Goliath in the Valley of Elah. The archaeological site that is believed to be Azekah is located in Park Britannia. Archeological excavations have revealed an extensive water system and a series of hideout caves on the site.
The Dead Sea Scrolls were found in the Quamran Caves, located at the north end of the Dead Sea. The Scrolls date back to the pre-Christian era and are considered the earliest example of Old Testament and Tanach script. The Scrolls reside in a museum, but you can tour the caves to get a feel for this historical location. Have Israir Airlines organize a guided tour of the Quamram Caves at any time of the year. Or, contact Desert Eco Tours for one of the tour packages that includes the Dead Sea and the Quamran Caves.
Herodium is the burial place of King Herod. Some scholars believe Herod fulfilled prophecies in the Tanach scripts. Herodium is an extensive archaeological site with palace ruins atop an ancient manmade mountain. Shalom Israel Tours will take you through Herodium National Park, the palace ruins, the ancient bathhouse and the ancient tomb. Many of the ruins are located outside the park, which you can only see via a private tour. Contact Shumel Browns with Israel Tour Guide or Israel Travels to arrange a tour of the site.
