How to Dial a Toll Free Number in India

Knowing exactly how to dial an Indian toll free number within India will save you a lot of time and trouble figuring out how to do so when the time comes. If you need to speak to a customer service representative or contact a major company or public office offering toll free numbers to Indian citizens, you will not be able to dial such a number from any phone like you can in other countries around the world.

  Find the toll free number of the company in India you wish to dial. Normally you can find these numbers in "Contact Us" sections of websites, on business cards or in phone book listings. Write the number down or have it visible in front of you when you call to ensure that you do not dial the wrong number.

  Find a phone with BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigram Ltd.) or MTNL (Mahanagar Telephone Nigram Ltd.) service. These two state-owned telephone services have a monopoly over the toll free numbers in India, so calling an Indian toll free number from another phone service is impossible.

  Dial the number exactly as it appears on the website, phone book listing or business card. You do not need to include a country code or area code in front of the number since the number is domestic and toll free. The call will either go directly to a live phone representative or to an automated menu of choices.
