  1. Transportation

    • Istanbul has two airports: Ataturk in Europe and Sabiha Gokcen in Asia. Once in the city, you can travel by city bus, tram, metro, taxi or ferry.

    Accomodation

    • Istanbul offers lodging for every budget. There are luxury hotels, youth hostels and kinds in between. Sultanahmet is the most traveled neighborhood for tourists because foot travel is practical.

    Currency

    • Turkish money is the New Turkish Lira (TRY). The conversion is 1.47 TRY to 1 USD. Currency exchange is available at both airports; cash is necessary for street vendors. Businesses accept select credit cards.

    Cuisine

    • Breakfast consists of fresh olives, peppers, bread and jam served with Turkish coffee. The coffee is strong, and it's often sweetened with sugar. Kebabs with lamb, peppers and eggplant dishes frequent menus; the coast offers an abundance of fresh fish.
