Iguazu Falls Facts

Located near the borders of Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay, Iguazu Falls is a marvel of nature. Many visitors describe it as the world's most beautiful waterfall. Although the setting is a subtropical jungle, it is about an hour and a half flight from Buenos Aires.

    • Iguazu Falls is in Argentina, but visitors can see it from either Argentina or Brazil.

    Size

    • Iguazu Falls tumbles over the rim of a cliff that is about 2-1/2 miles long. There are 275 individual cascades and falls, with the highest fall dropping almost 270 feet into the Iguazu River.

    Setting

    • Iguazu Falls is part of a subtropical jungle that is rich in wildlife, including tapirs, giant anteaters, howler monkeys and jaguars.

    Touring

    • Visitors who tour the falls from Argentina can walk around some of the falls or take a boat tour to the mouth of the waterfall. Visitors who tour the falls from Brazil can see sweeping panoramic views that give a full perspective of the falls.

    • The biggest waterfall at Iguazu Falls is called Garganta del Diablo or the Devil's Throat.
