Get an Elderly Freedom Pass Application form or, if you have a disability, a Disabled Freedom Pass Application form from your borough council office. You can also download both forms from the Freedom Pass website.
Fill the application form in block capitals. Make sure you fill all the required boxes and provide accurate information. You are not eligible for a Freedom Pass if you're not a permanent resident of London or its boroughs. If you shift residence from the Greater London areas, you are no longer eligible to use the Freedom Pass.
Gather all the personal documents proving your name, age and address. Acceptable documents include current passport, pension letter, medical card and a pink driving license. Documents accepted as proof of residence include recent utility bill, bank statement, inland revenue letter and a current council tax bill.
Take the completed application form and the personal verification documents to the borough council office. You must make the application for a Freedom Pass in person. Freedom Pass is non-transferable. You can only use the pass assigned in your name. Free travel on local rail services is in standard accommodation only.
Receive your London Councils Freedom Pass after your application is processed. Your borough council pays for your Freedom Pass. You can use your Freedom Pass for free travel only at specified times. This may vary for each public transport service. The general timing is between 9 a.m. to 4:30 a.m. on the following day on week days and all day on weekends and public holidays. Disabled pass holders can travel free at any time.
