Visit the Pennsylvania Turnpike website to apply for an E-ZPass online. Click "Enroll Now," and choose "Open Personal Account." Review the agreement terms, and click "I Agree" and "Next."
Click "Add Contact," and enter your contact information, including address, phone, email and driver's license number.
Create a pin number, user name and password to use on the E-ZPass website, then click "Next."
Enter your vehicle information, including license plate number, year, make and model, then click "Save," and "Next." Choose whether you want a monthly statement for a fee, or if you don't want a statement and will view yours online. Click "Next."
Choose whether you want to opt in or out of E-ZPass Plus, which is a system that allows you to pay with your E-ZPass at particpating locations like private parking lots and airport lots. Click "Next."
Choose whether you want your pass to be replenished with money automatically when it runs out, or uncheck the box if you'd prefer to add funds manually by logging in to your account. Automatic replenishment means your credit card or checking account will be debited automatically when your E-ZPass balance goes down to zero. Enter your credit card information or checking account number, and click "Next."
Type in how many transponders you want, and click "Next." The site will display the cost for your pass or passes. Review the summary of your account details, and if everything is correct, click "Next" to submit your application. Your E-ZPass will arrive in the mail, ready to use.
Visit one of 10 rest stops along the Pennsylvania Turnpike offering vending machines with E-ZPasses. A list of these locations is available on the Pennsylvania Turnpike website.
Follow the prompts on the vending machine to register your E-ZPass. These are the same steps as the online registration; you'll need to scan your driver's license and provide your license plate number, vehicle make, model and year.
Pay for your E-ZPass using a valid credit card. The transponder will drop out of the vending machine and is ready for you to use immediately.
Visit the Pennsylvania Turnpike website to find a retail location near you. Stores such as AAA, Acme, GetGo, Giant Eagle and Karns sell E-ZPass transponders, which must be activated online after purchase.
Purchase your E-ZPass at a retail location, then go online to register your pass. This must be done within 72 hours of purchase.
Click "Go Pak Registration," and enter the transponder number and pin number on the packaging, then click "Continue."
Review the E-ZPass Program Terms of Agreement, and click "I Agree," then "Next."
Follow the website prompts, which take you through the same steps as the online application to register your account and store payment information for replenishment. Click "Submit" when your application is complete. You will receive an email confirmation with your account details.
