State Parks Near Warner Robins in Georgia

Warner Robins, Georgia, is 100 miles southeast of Atlanta and 20 miles south of Macon. The city is home to Robins Air Force Base, and boasts the Museum of Aviation, one of the largest aviation museums in the United States. Warner Robins is surrounded by lakes and forested areas that offer a variety of recreational options. Four state parks within easy driving distance of the city have facilities for fishing, boating, swimming, hiking, camping and many other outdoor activities.
  1. High Falls State Park

    • High Falls State Park, 55 miles northwest of Warner Robins in Jackson, is named for a series of cascades on the Towaliga River. The park's High Falls Lake is one of Georgia's top fishing spots for hybrid and white bass, and fishing docks, boat ramps and boat rentals provide access for anglers. Other recreational facilities at the park include hiking trails, picnic shelters, a playground, a miniature golf course and a swimming pool. High Falls Campground has sites for tents, trailers and RVs as well as six yurts for rent.

    Indian Springs State Park

    • Indian Springs State Park, 57 miles northwest of Warner Robins in Flovilla, was a resort town in the 1800s. Visitors came to sample the area's spring waters, which the native Creek Indians had been collecting for centuries for the waters' healing qualities. Today, visitors can sample the waters at the stone Spring House built by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression. Other activities at the park include boating, hiking, biking, swimming and fishing. The park campground has sites for tents, trailers and RVs, as well as a group campsite.

    Georgia Veterans State Park

    • Georgia Veterans State Park, 58 miles southwest of Warner Robins in Cordele, features a museum with aircraft, armored vehicles and other items from the Revolutionary War through the Gulf War. The park also is home to Lake Blackshear, which provides opportunities for boating, fishing and water skiing. Other amenities at the park include 3 miles of hiking trails, a playground, bicycle rentals, disc golf and a championship golf course. The park campground has sites for tents, trailers and RVs, and the privately operated Lake Blackshear Resort and Golf Club has lodge rooms, a conference center and restaurants.

    Little Ocmulgee State Park

    • Little Ocmulgee State Park, 70 miles southeast of Warner Robins near McRae, preserves more than 1,200 acres of high sand hills and pine forest. The park is home to two rare Georgia species, the harmless indigo snake and the gopher tortoise, both of which often can be seen from the nature trail. Amenities at the park include a lake, an 18-hole golf course, tennis courts and a miniature golf course. Overnight guests may stay in the park lodge, which has a restaurant and swimming pool. Ten fully equipped cottages also are available.
