Things to Know About Nevada

Nevada is a state located in the southwestern part of the United States of America. It's bordered by California, Arizona, Utah, Oregon and Idaho. Whether you are planning on moving to Nevada, or simply planning a short trip, there are some things you should know before heading out.     • Nevada has a lot of beautiful, varying landscape. You can find mountains and basins within the state of Nevada. According to City Data.com, "Almost all of Nevada belongs physiographically to the Great Basin, a plateau characterized by isolated mountain ranges separated by arid basins." Nevada also has numerous lakes and sinks. It shares of number of it's lakes with surrounding states including Arizona and California.

    • Nevada has drastically diverse weather patterns, depending on the area of the state. Most northwestern regions have the annual four seasons of Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. Other regions of Nevada have a more flat line weather pattern that is either cool year round, or hot. Nevada gets a fair share of rain, though most days are sunny and clear.     • The cost of living in Nevada is somewhat expensive compared to other states in America. The consumer price index is around 4 points higher than the U.S. city average. The CPI is a measure of change over time based on the cost of goods and services. With Nevada being slightly higher than the national average, it's cost of living is considered high.

    • Whether you like to ski, bike, gamble or dine out, Nevada is a state where you can do a variety of activities. Because of its diverse elevations and weather patterns, Nevada offers almost every type of sport imaginable.
