Located in both Allegheny and Westmoreland counties, Trafford is a small Pennsylvania borough. Trafford is a historical suburb of Pittsburgh that was founded in 1904. Rumshakers is a traditional American bar located on Cavitt Avenue in downtown Trafford. This is a small tavern-style bar that never charges a cover charge. Rumshakers stays open until 1:30 a.m. In addition to standard bar fare, Rumshakers serves a large selection of appetizers including hot pepper cheese balls, breaded mushrooms, broccoli poppers and pierogies. Other food items at Rumshakers include burgers, wings, pizza, nachos and sandwiches. Located 1.8 miles south of Trafford, in neighboring North Huntingdon, is the Rivertowne Pub & Grille. This casual bar features an outdoor deck, full bar and complete restaurant menu. There are over 24 beers on tap and over 200 beers available by the bottle. In addition to beers, Rivertowne offers a lengthy menu of specialty drinks including the Turtle Martini with Bailey’s, chocolate vodka and butter schnapps. The bar also offers shooters and frozen cocktails. There are multiple pool tables available and the bar often hosts poker nights. In neighboring Monroeville is Tolerico’s Restaurant and Lounge. This lounge is situated 3.3 miles northwest of Trafford. The location opened originally as a pub and then a lounge before adding a full service restaurant. At Tolerico’s, there are 12 beers on tap, a lounge with a large screen television and happy hour deals, which are offered Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The lounge is smoker-friendly. During happy hour, Tolerico’s provides a complimentary buffet. In addition to beer, Tolerico’s has nearly two dozen white and red wines offered by the bottle and several house wines available by the glass. The menu at Tolerico’s is Italian and features homemade soups, pizzas, strombolis, sandwiches and various traditional Italian entrees.
The Gateway Grill in Monroeville is located 3.3 miles north of Trafford. This full service restaurant has 34 beers on draft and a selection of over 700 bottled beers. In addition to beers, Gateway Grill has a lengthy cocktail menu and wine list. The bar has 20 big-screen plasma televisions that play a variety of sporting events. Gateway Grill is open daily from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. The menu is Italian American and the house specialties include wood fire grilled pizza, slow cooked ribs and burgers.
